The successfull Aconcagua expedition

In February 2007 i visited South America again. It's been 23 years since I was there, when I visited Peru to climb Huascaran, the highest peak in Peru, Toqllaraju, a beautifull 6000 meter peak, and Nevado Pisco.

This time I went to Argentina as expedition leader for Kipling Travel, with a group of 10 hopefull climbers, all wanting to summit Aconcagua.

After a long struggle and allmost 2 weeks of acclimatisation, 9 of us started out from summit camp, the socalled "Nido des Condores" the Condors Nest, against the summit. After 8 hours of hard work in the oxygen depleted air only four of us was left and made it the last 2 hours to the summit.

It was all worth it and even those that had to turn back told me that it was a good experience to have participated in this climb.
