Everest, success and tragedy

Participating in the 1996 disaster wasn't any fun at all. But a lot can be learned from what happened and the decisions that made it happen. I was taking part in an international expedition for experienced climbers meaning that we were our own guides and should make plans and decisions ourselves. And none of us went for the summit during the fatefull days were 8 people died high on Everest.

So why did it have to happen, could it have been foreseen and is anyone to blame?
